4 Peaceful, Quiet and Less Crowded Spots in Istanbul
Sure, İstanbul is a magnificent city with its every detail. But what to do when you a bit tired of the crowds and the high tempo of the city? In our latest blog post, we made a list of 4 destinations in the city that you can visit to get away from the crowds and spend some quality time.
Neşet Suyu Park
If you like natural environments, Neşet Suyu Park (a part of Belgrad Forests) is somewhere you should definitely consider. Here, in addition to lots of picnic spots and a lovely nature, there is a 6 kilometers running track as well, so it’s the perfect destination to work out and then have a beautiful breakfast within nature.
Garipçe Village
Garipçe is a village located in Sarıyer district of the city. A protected area with its nature and seascape, Garipçe has a ruined historic fortress with a tower built by Genoese more than 500 years ago. It has a panoramic view of Bosphorus, and lots of lovely fish restaurants.
Atatürk Arboretum
Atatürk Arboretum (another entry in the list located in Sarıyer district) is an arboretum named in honor of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey. It covers an area of 296 ha (730 acres) southeast of Belgrad Forest. Open everyday except Mondays, arboretum has a wide range of greenery, as well as animals like ducks and swans. Food from outside is not allowed, so if you want to have a picnic, you should pick another destination. But it is a great place to spend some calming time within nature.
Rumeli Feneri
Rumeli Feneri is another village located in the Sarıyer district. The village is named after a local lighthouse of Byzantine origin. A fishermen's village, Rumeli Feneri is a great place to have some seafood while enjoying a lovely Bosphorus view. If you want to spend some quality time with your family during the weekend, you can start your day with a nice breakfast here!
