One of the primary touristic destinations around the world, Turkey has a lot accommodation options for those looking for a place to stay during their holidays, ranging from small boutique hotels to bungalows, to hostels and 5-star luxury hotels… Among these, resorts are a popular choice, especially during Summer times. Although a familiar term, resorts still get confused with hotels from time to time, from which they differ greatly. In this article, we will be talking about holiday resorts, their differences from luxury hotels and what they offer to their guests.
What is a Holiday Resort?
To define briefly, a holiday resort -or holiday village, as it is sometimes called- is a facility spread to a large area within nature which offers its guests a wide range of options in categories like food, entertainment, sports and other activities. In holiday resorts, guests are able to spend their holiday without having to leave the facility. Although there might be exceptions, holiday villages are usually loacated at the seaside, or close to nature.
Difference between a holiday resort and a hotel
As we mentioned at the beginning of the article, holiday villages are usually confused with luxury hotels, but they actually have a big difference. The thing is, hotels, in general, are places where the main purpose is to provide the guests a comfortable place to stay while they are away from home, for whatever reason. Holiday resorts on the other hand, usually sitting on a wider area, are designed to provide the best vacation experience to their customers within the facility, that’s why they provide a wide range of options, such as different types of restaurants, entertainment options, sportive activities etc. Most of the time, hotels are the choice of accommodation for people who are out of town for business, or on vacation with the main purpose of exploring a city, while holiday resorts are preferred by those who would like to spend their holiday in a facility where they can find everything they need within.
What Should a Holiday Resort Have?
While each facility is different, certain things are common in holiday vilages, some of which are: • Luxury rooms of different sizes • Entertainment options for both adults and children • A variety of restaurants with different menus from world cuisines, also bars and cafes • Gym, spa • Indoor/outdoor swimming pool • Private beach (if the resort is located at seaside) • Children’s playground • Outdoor resting spaces, reading rooms, etc.
